About Tow Capacity Lab

Useful towing math should be easy to understand, transparent and based on ratings you can actually verify.

Why we built it

Tow Capacity Lab was created to solve a common problem: towing questions are often answered with one headline number even though real combinations are constrained by several different ratings. The site breaks those checks into focused calculators so users can see the math instead of receiving a mysterious yes/no answer.

Real trailer-industry perspective

The project is informed by hands-on experience around utility, dump, equipment, enclosed and car-hauler trailers. That perspective shapes the questions the tools ask—actual payload, material weight, tongue load, axle capacity and equipment weight—not just brochure towing claims.

What we do not do

We do not certify a combination as safe or legal, and we do not override manufacturer ratings. Our calculators are planning tools. The vehicle/trailer labels, official manuals and towing guides, rated components, applicable law and actual scale weights remain the sources you should verify before towing.
